10,000 views! Let’s celebrate with a beer!

Don’t you hate it when work gets in the way? I’ve got about four half written blogs on my Dashboard, painfully waiting for completion but I haven’t visited my blog for so long they’re gathering dust. However, last week my inbox pinged with news of a comment on one of my rambling posts. A lovely comment from across the Atlantic drew my attention back to this dusty blog and I realised that despite my lack of posts it still gets a lot of views, 10,224 to be (very nearly) precise! In celebration of getting over the 10,000 mark I thought I’d share a beer or two with you.

Magical, Mystical, Machu Picchu

An epic day spent at Machu Picchu & also up Wayna Picchu; one of the best moments in more than eight months travelling through South America. It was quite stressful getting a ticket though…

50 – 43 Days… Going Cooking Crazy

Throughout South America I’ve cooked a lot. This has been a surprising development to my travels. When I travelled around South-East Asia I never dreamt of cooking, well I couldn’t have cooked even if I’d wanted to, beach bungalows don’t tend to come with kitchens! Plus in South-East Asia eating out is cheap, whether it’s at a roadside stall, a night market or even a respectable restaurant, eating out in South-East Asia never empties the purse. The same can not be said of South America.

82-79 Days… Border Crossings, a Brick Wall?

Recently my mum asked me a few questions about crossing land borders, as I’m up to my fourth border crossing on this South American tour. What happens? Is it safe? How do you do it? Is there anything separating one country from the next like a brick wall????

84, 83 Days…A Definite PuNO!

Puno is Peru’s closest city to the legendary Lake Titicaca; in fact it’s right next to the lake. I’d heard that Puno wasn’t really anything special and not the place you want to lay your eyes on Lake Titicaca for the first time. However after travelling five hours on a late afternoon bus from Arequipa I decided to stay in Puno to decide for myself. What a mistake!

89 Days Remaining…Reminiscing

89 89 89 89 89 89 DAYS!!!

Isn’t reminiscing the best?? Today I’ve been reminiscing about the South American trip so far. I’m trying to decide which experiences have been the best so far…hmm…. very tricky, I’ve seen a lot, eaten a lot and done a lot…

92 Days Remaining…The South American Bus Experience

As you are sat reading this post I should be travelling from Arequipa in Peru to Puno, the city next to Lake Titicaca. As I will be on a South American bus for five hours (this feels like NOTHING after doing a 20 hour journey) I thought I would post a blog about South American buses…

95 Days Remaining…The Peruvian Roof Dog

Well this countdown malarkey is going fast…since I’ve been paying attention to it anyway! 95 days!! Argh!!

Anyway…

In Peru a lot of the buildings are only one storey high, so for security Peruvians put a dog on the roof and LEAVE IT THERE 24/7!

The roof dog is their security guard. I don’t know why they can’t use barbed wire, broken glass…..
